Underworld Productions presents edgy, updated opera adaptations.
Our Resident Artist Program for Spring 2008 includes vocal, musical, and dramatic training.
RAs are offered performing experience in our June production, The Adventures of L & T.
Resident Artists have been at the heart of our company since 2004. We love the sound of fresh, clear non-operatic voices, and we believe that the vocal, musical and language skills necessary to make the transition to opera can be taught. The program has proved particularly beneficial to singers who have vocal training or experience in Musical Theatre, cabaret, or choral singing.
The RA program culminates in performance. This Spring we offer our RAs the opportunity to sing comprimario roles and chorus in The Adventures of L&T, our new English-language version of Pergolesi's comedic Livietta & Tracollo. The piece is specially designed to include Resident Artists, with interpolated arias tailored to your voices. We plan Commedia dell'Arte dramatic training for L&T, in workshop or ongoing coaching.
Our Resident Artists take part in a vital performing community. Our success is based on shared responsibility for success, with participants selling tickets, mailing fundraising letters, and taking ownership of a non-musical task. We ask you to make a firm commitment to our activities, with no absence, lateness or early excusal during production week.
